The Chamber of Commerce and Industries Romania hosted the International Forum for Investments on 27-29 October 2005

Under the section "Round Tables" 5 topics were presented, out of which "Real Estate Market in Romania – regional and national trends"

The speakers presented both the real estate market characteristics and development trends of housing and urban land.

Representing IHS Romania, Nicolae Taralunga brought under discussion the fact that the real estate market is still not perfect and incomplete, being influenced by the inflation rate, the expensive credits and low annual income of the population. Due to the suburbanisation process, the new developments rockets up the environmental costs, meanwhile the added value of the inner city revitalisation programes is underestimated.

The education/training organisations miss solid curricula in the field of urban economics, land and housing economics, property management and real estate management.

"There is a tendency to invest more in bricks and less in people involved in the real estate activities, and the results are 90% window shopping and 10% purchasing."
